Date – 8 March 2015
Women are my best teachers in this world.
The 8th of March is International Women Day.
I am saying thank you on this day to my Mother and my Aunties, Sisters, Cousins, Nieces, Friends in my Sundarbans, in all India and all over the world!
Your presence and love really blessed everyone of your family. Till i can remember the time with you and your blessing, your wishes, your supports. Happy Women’s Day! Thank you for inspiring us every day with your creative ideas, knowledges and supports. We need you! live long for this world!
This day, men and boys bring flowers or gifts on this day to their mothers, grandmothers, wives, aunties, sisters, daughters, nieces, friends…as a sign of respect and appreciation.
But this day is also a celebration of women’s strive to acquire social equality and peace, as instituted by United Nations. International Women’s Day was first observed as a popular event after 1977 when the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace. (More information here: http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/international-womens-day).
UN proposes a theme every year to celebrate the 8th of March – this year’s theme is for International Women’s Day 2015 is “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!”.
